Nkometou is a locality in the Obala district, in the Lékié2 department, in the Central Cameroon region. It is divided into two villages: Nkometou I and Nkometou II. Located 27 km north of Yaoundé, the town of Nkoumetou is crossed by the national road, on the route linking Yaoundé and Obala.
The equatorial climate is ideal for farming, especially cocoa, which is the main economic activity for the local population. A market is held here every Saturday, attracting large numbers of people from the major towns and surrounding areas.
The population of Nkometou is estimated at 1,575 according to the 2005 census. The majority of the local population is of Eton ethnicity. Nkometou is home to a toll booth on Route Nationale No.1, a water pumping station for the country's capital and is also crossed by the Chad-Cameroon pipeline.
Nkometou has two lycées and several basic education establishments.
